Obituary of Robert Keith Walter

F-T2/SS Robert Keith Walter, Grade E-5, age 28 of Springville, stationed aboard USS Emory S Land AD39, passed into eternity on January 8, 2013 at the US Naval Base in Guam.
Robert was born in Charleston, SC on January 9, 1985 and is the son of Bryan and Brenda (Butler) Walter of Springville.
Mr. Walter graduated from Montrose High School in 2004. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy where he received training in electronics, submarine sonar, and fire control systems. He was formerly stationed on the USS Connecticut SSN22 in New London, CT as a submarine Fire Control Specialist.
Robert enjoyed reading, music, computer gaming, telling jokes, and the tropical beaches in Guam. He was an extraordinary complex person, but was always there for his family. He lived a full life with passion.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister: Lei Walter of Whitehall; brother: Andrew Walter of Whitehall; paternal grandmother: Janet Ramey of Katy, TX; maternal grandmother: Rita Butler of Noxen; nephew: James Walter of Whitehall; aunts, uncles, and cousins whom will miss him greatly.
A memorial service will he held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 8:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Gary W. Haskell, Sr. of the Jackson Baptist Church, officiating.
Robert's family will receive visitors prior to the service from 5:00 PM - 7:45 PM.
A private interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions to be made to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
