It was an honor to serve with FT2 Robert Walter onboard the USS EMORY S. LAND while forward deployed in the Indian Ocean. Robert was a hard working Sailor with a great sense of humor. My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. May we always cherish the great memories that we shared with him. Fairwinds and Following Seas.

I had the distinct honor of deploying and serving with Robert as his assistant Weapons Officer in 2011 onboard the USS Emory S Land. From our time together in Diego Garcia, Bahrain, Malaysia, the Philippines and Guam, he always worked diligently and impressed me with his knowledge and ability to lend a hand to others when they needed it. My condolences goes to the family and friends of Robert. I served with Robert on the USS Emory S. Land and always a had couple opportunities to sit around and talk to him while having a beer or two. I had the pleasure of working and getting to know Robert onboard the USS Emory S Land. He was very kind and knowledgeable in training me in areas that I needed to get qualified in. He was a really smart and funny guy that will be dearly missed. His family and him are in my thoughts and prayers.

I also had the privilege of working with Robert who was very intelligent and had a great sense of humor. I will cherish many fond memories of times spent out to sea or on deployment. We especially spent a great deal of time together while we were on our way back from deployment in the Middle East, he would aggravate me to no end and then somehow manage to make me laugh about it. It was an arduous time but he had a knack for bringing out the best and worst in people and making it work together somehow.
