My deepest sympathies go out to Diane, Caryl and their families and Jason, Sylvia, and Adamas. I was named after my Aunt Audrey and she was named after her Aunt Dot (her mother's sister) and I was always told the name Adair came from an oldtime song, "My Sweet Adair." It was recorded in 1948 by Patti Page, but it looks like the original came out in 1915. Aunt Audrey was always Johnny on the spot with a few dollars or a beautiful gift. She loved to entertain her church friends and watch her religious programs on TV. She was a meticulous housekeeper which I'm sure she learned from her mother as did mine. We would tease her because come housecleaning time, she would wash every stitch of linens even though they were already clean in the closet and would even take all the clothing off the hangers and wash the hangers in the bathtub. My last visit with my Aunt Audrey was in October when I took her sister (my Mom) down for a visit. Physically they were both in pretty good shape, just having issues with memory. They recognized each other and were so glad to see each other. They held hands for almost the entire visit. My Mom said to her, "Look, we have the same hands." There wasn't a lot of conversation, but you could see the love. We had taken a box of cookies and some Gertrude Hawk peanut butter smidgens down and Aunt Audrey cracked open the bag of smidgens right quick. She'd take one and then hand my mother one. That continued about 5 times 'til I finally spoke up and said to my Mom, "Don't be eating all Aunt Audrey's candy now." My Mom gave me a stern look and said to her sister, "Who does she think she is?" LOL So I politely took the bag and cookies and said I would put them back in the room for her 'cause I didn't want either of them getting sick from eating too much candy. Anyway, my Mom, who is 3 years younger just passed away in January. A dear friend to our family said maybe my Mom told her how peaceful it was and why doesn't she come along. I thought that was such a nice thought and maybe she did. I'm sure they are having a grand reunion with all our loved ones who have gone on before us. Rest easy, Aunt Audrey, until we see you again.
