Obituary of Edward Jackson Higgins

Edward Jackson Higgins, age 63 of Shavertown, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at home with his family by his side.
Mr. Higgins was born in Wilkes-Barre on August 25, 1949 and was the son of the late Jonathan and Anna Sudosky Higgins.
Edward graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1968, where he was an outstanding wrestler, later to become a member of the Lake-Lehman Wrestling Club Hall of Fame. He was an IBEW Local 163 member where he served his apprenticeship and was employed as an electrician for 40 years, retiring last year due to illness. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved golfing with his brother Jim. He was also president of the Luzerne County Branch of ABATE Motorcycle Club. Ed was loving and enjoyed life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jonathan and James Higgins and sister, Mina Higgins.
Edward is survived by daughter: Amy Chilcote and companion C.J. Hartman of Shavertown; son: Edward M. Higgins and his wife Cecelia of Kunkle; sisters: Donna Phillips of her husband Roy of Kingston and Violet Milbrodt and her husband Emmett of Noxen; grandchildren: Jimmy Williams of Beaumont, Jonathan and Brooke Higgins, both of Kunkle; goddaughter: Amanda Cather of Vernon; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and lots of cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 3:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
Friends may call from 1:00 - 3:00 PM prior to the service on Saturday.
Interment will be in the Higgins-Harrison Cemetery.
