Jane P. Ash, age 73 of Shavertown, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in Trucksville, on February 12, 1939 and was the daughter of the late John F. and Jane Hughes Polk.

She graduated from Westmoreland High School and was a graduate of the Wilkes-Barre Business College. She was employed by the Dallas School District, Leslie Fay and most recently EMS Management Systems, Inc. where she retired in 2005.

Jane was a member of the Dallas, Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a former member of the Irem Temple Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, knitting and camping, and her passions included spending time with her four grandchildren, traveling with her husband and playing with her Shetland sheepdog Abby. Jane and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September 2010.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, H. Robert Ash; son: John R. Ash, Ph.D. and his wife Patricia of Sweet Valley; daughter: Pamela J. Hoffmaster and her husband Terry of Sinking Spring; grandchildren: Michelle, Christopher and Matthew Ash and Jared Hoffmaster; Also surviving are a nephew and two nieces.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Charles Grube of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dallas, officiating.

Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Franklin Township.

The entire family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers, especially Dr. Stanley Lobitz, M.D., Dr. Michael Lombard, M.D. and Dr. David Dalesandro, M.D. for their compassion and skill.
