As we travel through life we are touched by many who help to shape us, some subtly, some profoundly. Mr. Conger (he will always be Mr. Conger to me) was one of the latter. Even as a youngster at Garrison Elementary he saw potential in me and encouraged me to do better, sometimes gently, sometimes not so gently. But Mr. Conger was the kind of man I just could not allow myself to disappoint. And so I wrote my lines and then did better. After many years away from the area I was very fortunate to be able to renew our ties a few years ago and exchange correspondence.
As one who strongly believes that God has put each of us here for a purpose I say Rest In Peace, Mr. Conger. Mission accomplished.
