Obituary of Thomas Eugene Newell

Thomas Eugene Newell, age 62 of Noxen, passed Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. Mr. Newell was born in Harveys Lake on March 15, 1950 and was the son of the late Hiram and Alice Kraft Newell. Thomas graduated in 1968 from Lake Lehman High School and was a member of the Greater Pennsylvania Carpenter's Union. He enjoyed going to the casino, hunting, motorcycling, the outdoors, camping, and gardening. He also enjoyed spending time with his three children. Tom "tough guy" loved hanging out with friends and having good times, always making people laugh. He is preceded in death by a sister, Mary May and a brother, Ted Newell. Mr. Newell is survived by daughters: Cloe Newell and LeAnn Tinna and her husband Brett, both of Tunkhannock; son: Tommy Newell of Tunkhannock; brothers: Ed Newell of Harveys Lake, Dick Newell and his wife Joanne of Vernon, and Jim Newell and his wife Donna of Harveys Lake; sisters: Eleanor Eastwood of Tunkhannock and Joan Ely of Beaumont; grandchild: Kynzi Newell. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
