Margaret “Peg” Yascur, age 89 of Jackson Township, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at the Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. She was born at Harveys Lake on May 14, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Vernisky Polisky. Peg graduated from the former Lehman High School in 1948. She was employed by Donachie’s Restaurant, Kingston Township and retired from the Mercy Center, Dallas. She was a member of Gate of Heaven, Dallas and volunteered at many places. Peg was a great baker and cook, and enjoyed canning and crafting. You could always find her in her garden, and her work resulted in her being honored by the Back Mountain Bloomers. Her biggest joy of her life however was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and fury friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded death by husband, Leo “Pete” Yascur, she was the “Peg of My Heart”; and sister, Irene Cook. Margaret is survived by son, James P. Yascur of Jackson Township; daughters, Bonnie Coveleski and husband Alex of Harveys Lake, Cindy Brin and husband Nick of Loyalville, Brenda Miller and husband Tom of Lehman and Wendy Yascur of Washington, DC; sister, Dorothy Levi of Dallas; grandchildren, Stephanie Card, Stephen Card, Rachel Seamans (Rob), Brandon Card, Cory Brin (Sarah Pugh), Aniela Coveleski; great-grandchildren, Helena, Leo, Graham, and Lyla Seamans; and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special extended family. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 18th at 12: 15 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with A Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM on Thursday from the Gate of Heaven Church, 40 Machell Ave., Dallas, with the Rev. Daniel Toomey, officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 17th at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen, Catholic Social Services, 33 East Northampton Street, Wilkes Barre, Pa 18701 The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain View Center for the care given to Peg.
