Obituary of Marilyn Roszkowski
Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marilyn Jane Roszkowski, age 80, of Lake Silkworth, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 peacefully at home.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre on Christmas Day 1940 and was the daughter of the late Genevieve Terkoski and William E. Rushin.
Marilyn was a 1958 graduate of Newport Township High School and continued on as a graduating member of the first class of Villanova University School of Nursing with a BSN degree. Marilyn retired from Greater Nanticoke Area School District where she was employed as a school nurse for over 20 years. Marilyn was affectionately known simply as "Nurse" by friends and co-workers.
Marilyn overcame much adversity in her life. Despite contracting Rheumatoid Arthritis in her early twenties and through the numerous surgeries and compounding medical issues that followed, Marilyn always kept her sense of humor and was an example of strength and love to every life she touched, always putting family first and working through tremendous pain with beauty and grace and courage.
Marilyn loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with her husband. Marilyn also loved reading murder mysteries, collecting carousel horses, and yes, was the occasional gamer. Her favorites were Tetris and Nancy Drew Mysteries. Marilyn ever enjoyed drinking her sweet tea.
She finally succumbed following a 5+ year battle with dementia. Marilyn will be ever missed by family and friends, though she will live on through our love and memories.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Ronald W. Rushin; and grandson, Tyler W. Lanning.
Marilyn is survived by husband of 59 years, Carl Roszkowski; daughter, Deborah A. Roszkowski and her partner, Edward J. Maslowski; grandson, Vance R. Maslowski; great-grandson, Jacob W. Lanning; niece, Susan Rushin Yuschak; nephews, David Rushin, Edward Smarsh, and Tom Smarsh; and numerous other family members.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
