Obituary of Clyde Lester Boyer

Clyde L. Boyer, age 87 of Dallas, went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at ManorCare Health Services, Kingston. He was born in Shickshinny on December 28, 1932 and was the son of the late John and Violet Shoemaker Boyer. Clyde graduated from Shickshinny High School, Class of 1951, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Dallas School District and was a member of Grace Community Church. Clyde was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Gale Whispell; grandson, Jeremy Whispell; brothers, Carl, Warren, and Johnny Boyer; sisters, Evelyn Gensel, Lily Mae Boyer and Mary Law. Clyde is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Elizabeth "Betty" Andrews; sons, Rick and his wife, Debbie, Benton and Gary, Dallas; brothers, Larry Boyer, Rochester, NY and Stephen Boyer, Shickshinny; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Roland Preisler of Grace Community Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery, Jackson Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace Community Church, 4122 Memorial Hwy., Dallas, PA 18612. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at ManorCare for their exceptional and compassionate care given to Clyde and family over the past 3 ½ years.
