Cathy Prater, age 58 of Shavertown, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at the Hershey Medical Center. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ on January 6, 1962 and was the daughter of the late William and Ann Golden McHale. Cathy graduated from Dallas High School in 1980 and received her bachelor's of science from Wilkes University. She was employed as a supervisor for Commonwealth Telephone Company, Dallas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, sisters, Michelle Dickson and Jeanne Rosengrant and father-in-law, Reverend John S. Prater. Cathy is survived by her husband, Scott Prater; sons, Mike Prater and his wife Carol of Dallas, Chris Prater of Shavertown and Jeremy Prater of Fort Myers, FL; granddaughter, Kaylee; brother, William McHale Jr.; sisters, Ann Ellen Krench and Sharon Resetar; mother-in-law, Ingrid Prater; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Father Rafferty , officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Medical Oncology Associates (MOA) Script Fund, 382 Pierce St., Kingston, PA 18704.
