Obituary of James Jeffrey Howell

"Jim" Howell, 53, of Harvey's Lake, succumbed to illness at home on November 1, 2012. Born on April 4, 1959, he was the son of Harry Howell of Dallas and the late Ruth Elston Howell of Dallas. He was a graduate of Dallas High School and attended Penn State University. Jim thrived on his work, serving as Senior Vice President of Quality Collision, Inc. and previously as body shop manager at Motorworld. Jim was an avid hunter. He was meticulous at woodworking and restoring his 1950 Chevy, and a capable guitarist whose favorite bands crossed decades and genres. Jim has a long history with motorcycles beginning with his first dirt-bike as a boy and graduating to a vintage Harley. Surviving in, addition to his father, are his wife, the former Shela Weikel; stepchildren Jessie and James Dengler of Ashland; granddaughter Izabela Holloman; sisters Linda (Joseph) Sofia of Washington, N.J. and Nancy (Ralph) Ide of Nescopeck; nephews, Nathan Ide, Justin Sofia; nieces, Lauren Castelli, Gina Papp, Sarah and Kaitlyn Ide; his beloved dogs, Bear and Fancy. Jim's funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek with his brother-in-law, Ralph Ide officiating. Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 6:00 PM - 8 PM. The family wishes to thank the Medical Oncology Associates for the excellent care Jim received. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to MOA Prescription Drug Assistance Program, 382 Pierce St, Kingston, PA 18702.
