Obituary of Emily Karen Bruno

 Emily K. Bruno, of Dallas, formerly of Chase, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

 She was born in Wilkes-Barre on December 10, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Caroline Cigarski Rusnak.

 Emily graduated from West Side Central Catholic High School in 1959. She retired as a unit secretary in the Nursery Department at the former Nesbitt Hospital, and later the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.  She was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown.

Emily enjoyed country music, trips to the beach, shopping, sewing, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Karen, brother, Thomas Rusnak, Jr. and son, Ricky Uffer.

Emily is survived by daughter, Denise Lenahan; son, P.J. Bruno and his wife, Shellene; grandchildren, Shawn (Rose) Rybka, Jessa (Kyle) Williams, Dyllon (Marisa) Rybka, Randi (Adam) Welker, Grayson Bruno, and Timmy Uffer; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mildred Rusnak; nieces Stacey Novak and Heather Brassington; numerous cousins and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 2 pm from St. Therese’s Church, 64 Davis St., Shavertown, PA 18708, with Father James J. Paisley, officiating. 

 Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
