Peter A. Maransky, age 69 of Sweet Valley, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.
Mr. Maransky was born on May 7, 1943 in Kingston, PA, and was the son of the late Peter J. and Irene Roman Maransky.
Peter graduated from Northwest High School in 1961 and was an Army Veteran during the Vietnam era. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and classic cars. As a dog lover he became very attached to his beagle Tyke, and his yorkies Isaac and Buddy.
He is survived by his brother: Tom Maransky and his wife Marcia of Hunlock Creek; sisters: Alberta Marshallek of Clinton, MD and Irene Cragle of Sweet Valley; Pete had no children and considered as his children his nieces and nephews who are: Tom Maransky, John Young, Michele Maransky-Burke, Kimberly Ann Tonte, and Laura Honeywell. Great nieces and nephews: Michael Peck, Joelle Burke, Benjamin Burke, Shaylyn Honeywell. Several cousins.
As a kind, generous, and loving man, he was affectionately known to many as "Uncle Pete" and was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Terry Hughes pastor of the 5 Mountain Charge of United Methodist Churches, officiating.
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek.
Friends may call 6:00 - 9:00 PM on Tuesday.
