James E. Heller, age 63 of Hunlock Creek, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. He was born in Kingston on April 16, 1955 and was the son of the late Kenneth and Madlyn Bunosky Heller. James graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1973. He was a member of the Laborers Union 130, Scranton. James and his family managed the former Mohawk Riding Academy for many years. He enjoyed riding horses, hunting and farming. James is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Judith Burns; daughters, Elizabeth Cummings and her husband Frank of Sweet Valley and Sarah Lanning and her husband Adam of Hunlock Creek; sons, James and John, both of Sweet Valley; brother, Kenneth "Joe" Heller Jr. of Sweet Valley; and sisters, Nancy Honeywell of Texas, Susan Lee of Noxen, Lynn Jackson of Sweet Valley and Gail Verbyla of Mooretown; grandchildren, Jameson and Mason Cummings. A prayer service will be held Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 1:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Alex Roche of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, officiating. Visitation will follow the service from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the funeral home.
