Obituary of Elwood Wayne Womer

Elwood W. Womer, age 87 of Lake Twp., went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at home.

 Mr. Womer was born in Wilkes-Barre on February 5, 1931 and was the son of the late Richard and Mary Bambert Womer.

 Elwood resided in Lake Township for most of his life. He was employed by Kanaar Corp. in Wilkes-Barre for 20 years and was also employed by Lake-Lehman School District, from which he retired in 1992. Elwood was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid hunter. Elwood was a devoted follower of Christ, his Savior and was a member of the Assembly of God denomination.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Alvin, brothers, Albert and Urban and sister, Clara Siglin. 

Elwood is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Beulah Deater; son, Richard W. Womer and his wife Rosanne; brothers, Charles, Fred and Robert; sister, Louise Shishkowski;  and daughter-in-law, Mary Womer Moffitt; 6 grandchildren, Melissa, Patrick, Tori, Tricia, Joey, Anna; and 8 great-grandchildren.

 A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 3:00 PM from the Tunkhannock Assembly of God Church, 181 N. Bridge St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657, with Pastor Rick Womer, officiating.

 Visitation will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.

Interment will be in Kocher Cemetery, Lake Twp.
