Obituary of Monica Joan Gregus

Please share a memory of Monica to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

They say, “One man’s loss is another man’s heavenly gain”.  On Saturday, September 1, 2018, earth lost one of its strongest woman but heaven gained an amazing angel. Monica J. Gregus, at a lively age of 82 went to be with the Lord while surrounded by her family at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre Twp. on May 9, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Veronica Partash Reynolds Kok.

If Monica wasn’t working in her kitchen baking dozens of cookies or cakes, she could be found gardening, bargain shopping, or scratching off lottery tickets.  She also looked forward to working at her church festival every year.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings; Kenneth Reynolds and Joanne Ravencraft, her step-father, L.C. Reynolds and granddaughter Sommer Leco.

Monica will be forever remembered by her husband of 55 years, Leonard, her children: daughter Charlene Toro and her husband, Mike; son Gary Leco and his wife Michelle; son Bill Leco as well as her granddaughter Holly Van Scoy and goddaughter Genie Gorgan and her husband, Mark; Sister, Deborah Amato and husband Emilio; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family that held a special place in her heart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 7, 2018 from Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Lake Silkworth, with Rev. Alex J. Roche officiating.

A time of visitation will be from 9:00 -11:00 AM at the church, just prior to the Mass on Friday.

Monica’s family would like to thank the CVICU doctors, nurses and staff at the General Hospital for everything they had done for her over the last few weeks.

Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Pikes Creek.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
