Obituary of Frank Shumack

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frank Shumack, age 89 of Plymouth Twp., passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, July 28, 2018.

Frank was born on August 12, 1928 to the late Frank Cionik and Clara Cionik Dranginis.  Growing up on 3rd St. in Plymouth, Frank later became a life-long resident of Plymouth Twp., except for the past three years when he lived with his son, Frank, Jr.

Frank graduated from Plymouth High Schools.

He worked at the former J.B. Carr Biscuit Co., where he met the love of his life, Dorothy.  He later worked for Hart & Co. from which he retired after 26 years of employment in 1993.

Frank and Dorothy were wed on August 18, 1947.  They celebrated 55 years of marriage before Dorothy’s passing in 2002.

Frank was not only the patriarch, but heart and soul of his family.  Known as “Pappy” by his family and friends, there was no name he treasured more than “Poppy”.  Frank twisted the ear of many.  His stories of his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and just life will be deeply cherished and missed.  He was a very avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Villanova Wildcats.  If he ever missed one of his granddaughter’s horse shows, they knew he was ill.

Frank had a deep passion for hunting and fishing.  His love for fishing took him to just about every lake in PA and NY.  He was a life-long member of the NRA.  He enjoyed all of the hunting seasons, especially deer.  Even with his walker in tow, Frank scored a 7 pointer just this past season.  He was a true outdoorsman.  His foot prints can be found throughout northeastern PA.

Frank was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.  Nothing was more important to him than his family.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy Shumack, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Helen Baluh and Catherin Chulavista.

Frank will be sadly missed by his son, Frank Shumack, Jr. and his wife, Alexis of Hunlock Creek; grandson: Frank Shumack III; granddaughter, Alex Rosengrant (Poppy’s girl) and husband, Derek of Sweet Valley; and two great grandchildren, whom he adored, Tyler and Maria Rosengrant and many nieces and nephews.

Following Frank’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours.  A private family funeral will be held August 18, 2018.

Funeral arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., Pikes Creek
