Obituary of Margaret Helena Truska

Margaret "Peg" H. Preston Truska, age 85 of Harveys Lake, passed away June 29, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Truska was born in Clifton Heights on September 16, 1932 and was the daughter of the late James and Ada Preston. Peg graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX. She worked for Southwest Cigar Co. in Dallas, TX, Dallas Power and Light Company, Pennsylvania Game Commission and later owner/operator of Taft's Market at Harveys Lake for over 38 years with her husband, Taft. Peg was past president, secretary and assistant secretary of the Harveys Lake Women's Service Club and was a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. She was the last member of the Daniel C. Roberts Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Harveys Lake, and was chairman of the Parliamentarian Finance Committee. Peg was, past president, secretary and treasurer at the Alderson United Methodist Church and also served as past secretary of it's Administrative Board. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Taft Truska, Jr.; son, Taft Truska, III, sister, Winifred Selfridge; Brothers: William S. Preston, James Preston, Jr., Robert Preston, Clifford Preston and Ronald Preston. Peg is survived by grandchildren: Taft IV, and his wife, Kristen; Matthew, and Keegan Grace; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Truska of Harveys Lake; great grandchildren: Taft V, Savanna, Tayden, and Sierra Truska, numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 at 8:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor William Kennard, officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alderson United Methodist Church, 108 Lakeside Dr, Harveys Lake, PA 18618.
