Obituary of Erin Elizabeth Wicht
Please share a memory of Erin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Erin Elizabeth Loftus Wicht, 37, of Dallas Township, passed away on July 23, 2012 after a courageous battle. Although Erin will be missed terribly by all those who knew her, even in death she was more concerned with the effect her passing would have on those she loved. As such, and in accordance with her wishes, Erin's life should be celebrated by everyone who loved her and shared in her joy.
Born in California, she spent her early years on the island of Guam fostering a love of the ocean. Her formative years took place at Lake Silkworth, Pennsylvania, where she attended Lake Lehman High School and made friendships that are true to this day. She continued her studies at Wilkes University and College Misericordia, but found too much living to do outside the classroom to waste time on a degree. A tremendous athlete, Erin still appears on two of the Cougars volleyball all-time record lists. She also had a fondness for travelling that took her all the way from Ireland to Hawaii, where she was very recently able to share her favorite place on earth with her husband and her son. And at all times trying to make those around her happy, she fattened her family and friends with a love and mastery of baking.
Possessed of a storybook personality, Erin's compassion and understanding made her immediately loved by all those who came into contact with her. She placed the well-being of others above her own at all times and exemplified selfless living. She will remain an inspiration to those who spent time with her and those who were only afforded a brief opportunity to revel in the eternal optimism she could find in even the darkest of circumstances.
She is survived by the most important person in her life and her miracle, her son Bo, husband Roby, parents Michael and Jean Loftus, brother Matthew Loftus and his wife Jennifer, niece Molly, nephew Kyle, niece Victoria, niece Nelia, and her faithful companions Shelby and Bosco.
Family and friends may call at the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek, July 27, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at Lake Silkworth, followed by a celebration of Erin's life at her parents' home at Lake Silkworth. Erin requested that for these events friends and family leave their black clothing at home.
