Obituary of Donald Robert Newberry

Donald Newberry, age 87 of Monroe Township, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at home. Mr. Newberry was born in Monroe Township on January 15, 1930 and was the son of the late Harry and Florence Carey Newberry. Donald graduated from Beaumont High School in 1948 and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Proctor and Gamble Paper Products in Mehoopany for many years. Donald was a longtime member of the church he loved, Northmoreland Baptist Church. He was a good and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1st wife, the former Edna French, 2nd wife, the former Jeannie Swain, son, Merle Newberry, and brothers, Carl, Chet and Harry Newberry. He is survived by daughters, Cheryl Newberry of Harveys Lake, Jane Swire of Wilkes-Barre and Linda Long and her husband Roy of Monroe Twp.; brother, Kenneth Newberry of Tunkhannock; sister, Mary Louise Oakley. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 7:00 pm from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Kurt Seboe of the Northmoreland Baptist Church and Pastor James Howell, retired, officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Private interment will be in the Perrins Marsh Cemetery, Northmoreland Twp.
