James Dominick Leo, age 81 of Benton, Fairmount Twp., passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at home, under the loving care of his family and Commonwealth Home Health and Hospice, Berwick. Jim was a resident of Benton since 1975. He was born in Lansdale on August 19, 1935 and was the son of the late Joseph and Lucy Vacaille Leo. Jim and his wife, Loretta (Marsella) Leo, were married in 1966 and would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on May 28. Following his graduation from Lansdale High School, James completed a one year HVAC course in Philadelphia while working nights at Philco Ford and days at the tech school. In 1958 Jim was drafted in the US Army, serving two years as an auto mechanic. He was a hunting enthusiast and enjoyed the outdoors. Jim was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Berwick Bulldogs and Northwest Rangers High School Football. James worked for various employers, Philco, Stroehmann's, American Asphalt, was self-employed in Lansdale and retired from the Berwick Hospital in 1998. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Peter Leo, nephew, Peter Leo, Jr.. Surviving in addition to his wife is son, Vincent and his wife Joann of Red Rock; grandchildren, Ashlyn Rose and Marah Elizabeth; nephew, Wayne Leo and his wife Eileen of Harleysville; several great-nephews and nieces; great-great nieces; niece, Michele (Marsella) DeLuca and her husband Stephen of Naples, FL; brother-in-law, Anthony Marsella and his wife Julia of Cedarville, NJ; sister-in-laws, Joan Leo of Lansdale and Margaret Marsella of Peachtree City, GA; his cat, "Pumpkin". A Mass of Christian Burial will be held May 23, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Christ the King Church, 300 Mendenhall Lane, Benton, PA 17814, with Rev. David Hereshko, officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas, Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Christ the King Church, 300 Mendenhall Lane, PO Box 297, Benton, PA 17814 or Blue Chip Animal Rescue, 974 Lockville Rd. Dallas, PA 18612.
