Obituary of Eleanore Beatrice Wilkes

Eleanore B. Wilkes, age 87 of Noxen, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Golden Living Center, Tunkhannock, with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Wilkes was born in Hackensack, NJ on August 8, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Louis, Sr. and Anna Post Schneider. Eleanore attended St. Luke's Reformation Lutheran Church, Noxen. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother. Eleanore was an avid reader, loved going to parties and enjoyed playing games especially bingo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Sterling Wilkes, son, Daniel Minneo, Sr., daughter, Christina Minuski, brother, Louis, sisters, Laura and Helen and companion, Robert Weaver. Eleanore is survived by sons, Sterling Wilkes, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Canton, OH, Albert Wilkes of Wilkes-Barre and Kenneth Wilkes and his wife Brenda of Plymouth; daughters, Cathleen Burge and her husband Joseph of Tobyhanna, Theresa Higgins and her husband William of Tobyhanna, Eleanore Grow and her husband Robert of Reinholds, Linda Keefe and her husband Gary of Noxen and Helen Spencer and her husband George of Noxen; 29 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; 1st husband, James Minneo. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Marty Everhart of the St. Luke's Reformation Lutheran Church, officiating. Friends may call 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, Hunlock Creek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Luke's Reformation Lutheran Church, 196 Main St., Noxen, PA 18636 or Alzheimer's Association of NEPA, 57 N.
