Obituary of Dale Jeffrey Belles

Dale Jeffrey Belles, age 71 of Mehoopany, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Scranton Regional Hospital. Mr. Belles was born in Etowah, TN on March 5, 1945 and was the son of the late William and Helen Armstrong Belles. Dale graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1963 and served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He was employed by Proctor and Gamble in Mehoopany for 27 years. Dale was a member of the American Legion Post 457, Tunkhannock. He and his wife Marlene, enjoyed golfing, traveling, and loved spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by brothers, William, Timothy and Larry Belles. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Marlene Patton; daughter, Wendy Weitz of Mehoopany; son, Dale Belles, Jr. and his wife Chris of Mehoopany; brothers, Jim and his wife Joan of Noxen, John of Trucksville and Robert and his wife Marcy of Noxen; sisters, Bev Crispell and her husband Don of Monroetown and June Newberry and her husband Jon of Beaumont; grandchildren, Cassie Holley, Vanessa Weitz, Carissa Belles, Christina Belles and Dale Belles, III; 7 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Mehoopany United Methodist Church, 4656 Sr 87, Mehoopany, PA 18629. Friends may call 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. Future interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
