Obituary of Harvey Leonard Hummel

Harvey L. Hummel, age 79 of Harveys Lake, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit, South Wilkes-Barre. Mr. Hummel was born in Lake Township on November 29, 1937 and was the son of the late Hughie and Elizabeth Grey Hummel. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic. Harvey was a caregiver for people who were confined to their homes. He was a faithful, 40 year member of the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, Harveys Lake. Harvey was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed sports and cherished time with his family and sharing the love of Christ with others. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Leland and Tom. He is survived by his wife of 52 years: the former Ruth Gliddon; son: Jody and his wife Maria of Sweet Valley; daughters: Tamara Madonna and her husband James of Sweet Valley, Tracey Capinas and her husband, Tom of Lake Township; niece: Terri Gliddon of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren Funeral will be held Wednesday at 2:30 PM from The Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek with Rev. L.D. Reed, pastor of the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 noon to the time of the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, 239 Church Road, Harveys Lake, PA 18618.
