Obituary of Lewis Eugene Naugle

Lewis E. Naugle, age 87 of Hunlock Creek, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. Mr. Naugle was born in Lehman Township on September 14, 1929 and was the son of the late William and Mildred Sayre Naugle. Lewis was employed as a bus driver for Martz Trailways in Wilkes-Barre for many years. Then he and his brother, Gerald, owned and operated Naugle's Sand and Gravel in Pikes Creek from 1979-1992. Later, he was self-employed as a truck driver hauling Park Model trailer campers from Indiana to Massachusetts. He retired as a truck driver for EIO Sanitation, Dallas. Lewis was president for the Amalgamated Union of Transportation, Local #1119, Wilkes-Barre. He was also member of the Irem Temple Transportation Unit. In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd and Gerald Naugle and beloved dog friends, Cruz and Niko. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Mary Ann Malecki; daughters, Luann Lucarino and her husband Chris of Hunlock Creek and Linda Murat and her husband Bruce of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother, William Naugle of Pikes Creek; sisters, Betty Remley of Pikes Creek, Doris Gordon of Benton and Alice Kuczawa of Hegins; brother-lin-law: Stephen Delman of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Aidan Lucarino and Todd Sallo; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and his dog and best friend, Jax. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 3:00 pm from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Dan Brubaker of the Roaring Brook Baptist Church, Hunlock Creek, officiating. Friends may call 1:00 - 3:00 PM prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or Blue Chip Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Rd, Dallas, PA 18612. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Meadows Nursing Center for the wonderful care they gave to Lewis.
