Obituary of Myron Joseph Mahalak
Please share a memory of Myron to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Myron "Cy" J. Mahalak, age 81 of Edwardsville, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Mahalak was born in Wilkes-Barre on July 2, 1935 and was the son of the late Stanley Mahalak.
Myron was a 1953 graduate of Meyers High School where he excelled at football, often speaking of his days playing ball on Thanksgiving Day. He was a proud Army veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. He was employed by Amoco Oil Co. for 30 years as a truck driver. Myron enjoyed company and friendships at the Edwardsville Senior Center. He was proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for all their outstanding accomplishments in their lives. Myron appreciated the little things in life, and was respected by all. He greatly appreciated all the love and support his daughter, Linda, provided throughout the years. He would tell you his son, Myron T., was his chauffeur and bodyguard especially throughout his illness. His son, David, provided him with four athletic grandchildren and was a great father and coach for his children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Joan Mahalak, his daughter RoseAnn Dearden, and granddaughter Tanya Mahalak
Myron is survived by his two sons, Myron and his wife Cheryl of Shavertown, David and his wife Kimberly of Wilkes-Barre, daughter Linda Bonham and husband Brad of Edwardsville; Grandchildren: Tarra Miller, Brad and Gina Bonham, Christopher and Sarah Dearden, and David, Matthew, Kelly, and Nathan Mahalak. Great-grandchildren: Jillian and Alexis Bonham, Kamron and Landon White, and David and Sophie Mahalak.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. James Brady and his team at the Henry Cancer Center. Myron would always say, "Dr. Brady and his crew are great"! A lesson to all, in the end the only thing that matters is what people thought of you. Myron was loved by all!
Private funeral services were held from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Richard Fox of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, officiating.
