Obituary of Edward Thomas Shamus

Edward T. Shamus, age 69 of Harveys Lake, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at home. Mr. Shamus was born in Kingston on November 2, 1945 and was the son of the late Edward George and Ann Evanauskas Shamus. Edward graduated from the Pennsylvania State University and was employed by PennDot for 30 years. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Edward served as president of the Harveys Lake Little League and was a former Troop Leader of the Harveys Lake Cub Scouts. He was a member of the Harveys Lake American Legion and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Penn State Football. Edward was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Andrejko. Edward is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Katherine "Candy" Gibson; son, Edward D. Shamus and his wife Lisa of Sparks, MD; daughter, Cristy A. Shamus and her wife Melissa of Plantsville, CT; brother, Raymond Shamus of Bear, DE; grandchildren, Kara, Edward J., Ella, and Anna. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. James Pall of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call 2-4 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the SPCA, 524 E Main St, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
