Obituary of Allen Chester Keiper

Allen Chester Keiper, age 68 of Shavertown, formerly of Noxen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Mr. Keiper was born in Noxen on September 11, 1947 and was the son of the late Chester and Grace Patton Keiper.
Allen spent most of his life in Noxen, working on the family farm in his younger years and later years, raising his family. He graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1965 where he was an excellent wrestler and later served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era, stationed in Alaska. He was the owner/operator of Keiper Enterprises in Hughesville and Infrastructure Construction Services in Leesburg, VA. Allen was involved in the pipeline and utility work from the time he was 18 years old. He employed many young men from Noxen, teaching them the pipeline trade. Allen was a hardworking, generous, knowledgeable, self-made man. Allen was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his hunting trips with his son, Matthew. He was a big time Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed watching High School and college wrestling, and enjoyed shopping at Wegmans. Allen and Kathy enjoyed traveled together and antiquing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert Keiper, and sisters, Helen Payne and Laura Case.
Allen is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Kathy Moretti of Harveys Lake; son, Matthew Keiper and his wife Kim of Biglerville; daughter, Amy of Harveys Lake; brother, Thomas Keiper of Mountaintop; sisters, Audrey Patton of Lewisburg, Anna Mae Smith of Ruggles, Betty Williams of Sweet Valley, Florence Parker of Noxen, and Nancy Ide of Harveys Lake, three beautiful grandchildren, whom he adored with all of his heart, McKayla, Mason, and Allison; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM from the Noxen United Methodist Church, 3390 State Route 29 S, Noxen, PA 18636 with Pastor Val Rommel, officiating.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church.
Funeral arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
