Obituary of Jay Allan Martin

Jay Allan Martin, age 69 of Dallas, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at his son's home in Ashley. Mr. Martin was born in Kingston on February 5, 1946 and was the son of the late Gaylord and Mildred Hummell Martin. Jay was a member of the Loyalville United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed fishing with his son. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Gaylord Martin. Jay is survived by his sons, Jay Martin, Jr. of West Nanticoke, Todd Martin of Ashley, and Chris Martin of Alabama; daughters, Renee Martin of Hanover Twp., and Anitra Martin of Reno, NV; brothers, Alfred Martin of Orlando, FL and Robert Martin of Harveys Lake; sisters, Eva Thomas of Dallas, Ida Scott of Sweet Valley, and Sandra Traver of Sweet Valley; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 31, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Carol Folk of the Loyalville United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Monday prior to the service. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the American Heart Association-Northeastern, 613 Baltimore Dr # 3, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
