Obituary of Michael Curtis McGovern

Michael Curtis "Cork" McGovern, age 53 of Harveys Lake, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015. Mr. McGovern was born in Wilkes-Barre on February 25, 1962 and was the son of William and Sara Patton McGovern of Noxen. Michael graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1980 and was a member of the Pipeliners Local #798 in Tulsa Oklahoma for the last 36 years. He was a member of the George M. Dallas Lodge #531, F & AM. Michael enjoyed target practicing with his children. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife the former Judy Hrabowski; sons, William Michael McGovern of New Orleans, LA and Curtis Vincent McGovern, at home; daughter, Erica Joyce McGovern, at home; sisters, Pamela Malkemes and her husband Richard of Kunkle, Linda Zacharias and her husband Ralph of Beaumont, and Kimberly Space and her husband Don of Sweet Valley; numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 8:00 pm from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Val Rommel of the Noxen United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Noxen United Methodist Church, 3390 State Route 29 South, Noxen, PA 18636.
