Obituary of Betty Jane Strzelczyk

Betty Jane (Oney) Strzelczyk, age 91 of Harveys Lake, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Lake Side Nursing Center, Harveys Lake. She was born at Harveys Lake on March 31, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Elwood E. and Bertha Crispell Oney. Betty graduated from the former Laketon High School in 1942. She was a member of the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, where she was very active over the years in the "Womens' Missions", choir, and singing "specials" in church services. She loved to visit flea markets, and would handcraft beaded Christmas tree ornaments, which she gave to family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Chester who passed away in 1987; her son Gary who passed away in 2011; sisters and brothers: Pauline Gamrot, Elsie Petrillo, Jean Macri, June Vosburg Stephens, Ruth Harrison, Byron Oney, Frederick Oney, Lois Newbold, and Andrew Oney. She is survived by her children: Sharon S Robinson, Tafton, PA; Linda S Davis, Holly Hill, FL; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Strzelczyk, Wyoming, PA; three grandchildren Jeffrey, Jennifer, and Gary Strzelczyk Jr, and their mother, Anna Rose Strzelczyk; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Mable Matovsky, Deal, NJ; George Oney and his wife, Alvina of Hillsborough, NJ; Janet Andrews and her husband Ted of West Chester; Rebecca Widdick, Largo, FL and Eunice Sorber and her husband Claude of Zephyrhills, FL.; many nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Richard Womer of the Tunkhannock Assembly of God Church, officiating. Friends may call 2-4 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Kocher Cemetery, Ruggles. In lieu of flowers, friends & family are asked to plant a red flower in Betty's memory-so when they look at it, they can smile and think fondly of Betty.
