Obituary of Lawrence Brown Hilbert

Lawrence Brown Hilbert, Jr., age 86 of Dallas, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, OH.
Mr. Hilbert was born in Beaumont on August 26, 1928 and was the son of the late Lawrence Brown, Sr. and Elsie Goodwin Hilbert.
Larry graduated from the Allentown High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict in Panama and Haiti. In his early years, he was employed as a Construction Superintendent for the Sutter Corp., Berwick until 1979. He then formed Hilbert's Equipment and Welding, Inc. and The Tractor Store in Dallas.
Lawrence was a member and held the office of treasurer in both the Kunkle United Methodist Church and the Kunkle Fire Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking trips to Alaska. He was also one of the original and life-long members of the Beaumont Camp on South Mountain.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, the former Carol Jean Mitchell, who passed away in July, 2012 and his son, Jay, who passed away in February, 2013, brothers, Conrad and Goodwin, sisters; Frances Haggis, Julia Denmon and Jean Swartwood.
He is survived by his son: Larry Hilbert and his wife, Debbie of Beaumont; sister: Loretta Phillips of Columbus, OH; grandchildren: Larry E. and his wife Kerrie; Kari Hilbert-Oshirak and her husband, Dave, all of Beaumont; great grandchildren: Lia and Luke.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek, with Mr. Jay Thornton of the Kunkle United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends may call Monday from 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Kunkle United Methodist Church, 177 Old Highway Rd., Dallas, PA 18612 and the Kunkle Volunteer Fire Company, 14 Firehouse Rd., Dallas, PA 18612.
