Obituary of Howard E. Mowers

Howard E. Mowers, age 82 of Sweet Valley, formerly of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, at his home. Mr. Mowers was born in Stoughstown, and was the son of the late Floyd L. and Mary Pearl Gilbert Mowers. He served in the National Guard. Howard retired from the F.J. Boutell Automobile Carries, Inc. in Maryland after 30 years of service and then later was employed by Monn's Firewood, Shippensburg He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. Preceding him in death is his first wife, the former Joyce Hershey. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Kline Keiper Mowers; Daughters: Jan Sholly and her husband, Rodney of Shippensburg; JoEllen Reese and her husband, Jeffery of Shippensburg; Sisters: Louise Pisle of Shippensburg, Emma Faye Dice of Chambersburg, Millie Koser of Shippensburg and Dorothy Mull of Sun City, AZ; Grandchildren: Nichole Bender of Orrstown, Amber Holtry of Shippensburg; Great Grandchildren: Cierra and Kohyn Bender. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of the Sacred Heart and especially Howard's nurses Mary Ann, Izzy, and Sue. The family requests that if desired, memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Dr., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
