Susan J. Baer, age 71 of Sweet Valley, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Mrs. Baer was born in Wilkes-Barre on June 14, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Russell and Susan Williams Dodd. Susan graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1961, Wilkes-Barre Business College in 1962 and was an EMT for the Harveys Lake Ambulance Company. She enjoyed fishing and drinking coffee with friends and family. Susan was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by sons, Russell Baer and his wife Eileen of Newton, NJ, and Drew Baer and his wife Alissa of Winnipeg, MB, Canada; daughter, Terri Covert and her husband James of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren, Brooke, Thomas, Chloe, Daniel, Nathan, Joshua, Trevor, Alexander, and Sebastian. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Carol Folk of the Loyalville United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 East Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
