Obituary of James Andrew Smigielski

James A. Smigielski, age 67 of Harveys Lake, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at home. Mr. Smigielski was born in Wilkes-Barre on May 23, 1947 and was the son of the late Frank and Irene Anthony Smigielski. James graduated from West Side Central Catholic High School in Kingston and as a teenager he became an Eagle Scout. He also served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He graduated from the State Police Academy on August 13, 1969 and was stationed at Troop T, in the Poconos, retiring on January 13, 1995. After his retirement, he was owner/operator of Northbound Restaurant, Inc. at Harveys Lake and also a zoning officer for Harveys Lake. James was a member of the Our Lady of Victory Church, the Harveys Lake Fire and Ambulance Company and the Frank Albert Memorial Lodge, FOP in Wyoming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Thomas Smigielski, and twin brother, Joseph Smigielski. James is survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Lorraine Klukosovsky; daughters, Robin Bucknavage and her husband Matthew of Harveys Lake and Jill Lukach and her husband Thomas of Newark, DE; son, Brian Smigielski and his wife Melissa of Harveys Lake; sister, Theresa Azaravich of Harveys Lake; grandchildren, Rylie, Gracie, Conner, Gavin, Mallory, Ethan, and Jack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2014 at 10:00 am from the Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake, with Rev. Daniel Toomey officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Harveys Lake Volunteer Fire Company, 1349 Lakeside Drive, Harveys Lake, PA 18618, or Troopers Helping Troopers, 3625 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Pikes Creek.
