George May, age 91 of Harveys Lake, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Mr. May was born at the Outlet section of Harveys Lake on September 27, 1923 and was the son of the late Hervey and Gertude Anderson May. George retired from Cleveland Brothers Equipment in Wilkes-Barre. His main hobby included his skilled woodworking ability and he also enjoyed working on antique engines. George was a helpful neighbor who aided anyone in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, the former Margaret Laity, and sisters, Glendora Anderson, Kitty McDaniels, and Shirley Caputo. George is survived by sisters, Mary King of York, PA, Esther Baer, Neva Kocher of Lehman Twp., Ethel Gryskiewicz of Harveys Lake, and Iris Weeks of Dallas; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Dennis Scheuermann, former pastor of the Outlet Free Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be in the Orcutt's Grove Cemetery, Noxen. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be made to National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
