Obituary of Samuel Donald Rosencrans

Donald Samuel Rosencrans, age 83 of Sweet Valley, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at home. Mr. Rosencrans was born in Sweet Valley on September 28, 1931 and was the son of the late Melvin and Myrtle Kittle Rosencrans. Donald worked for Coon Certified Concrete in Luzerne as a truck driver for 43 years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, and traveling in his motor home with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bruce, Wayne, and Peter Rosencrans and son-in-law, Leo Bear Niedzwiecki. Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Dorothy Shaw; sons, Donald Rosencrans, Jr. and his wife Dixie of Benton and Gerald Rosencrans and his wife Norma of Sweet Valley; daughter, Barbara Bear Niedzwiecki of Benton; sister, Gertude Roman of Stillwater; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 10 step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Raymond D. Purdy of the Living Word Baptist Church, Fairmount Twp., officiating. Friends may call 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Bethel Hill Cemetery, Fairmount Township.
