Obituary of Edythe Arlie Bonning

Edythe A. Bonning, age 91 of Shavertown, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Bonning was born in Forty-Fort on August 22, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Oscar and Edythe Belles Swan.
Edythe graduated from the former Lehman High School in 1943. She was employed at the Luzerne County Courthouse as a clerk, the former Lazarus Department Store in Wilkes-Barre, and retired from the former Commonwealth Telephone Company in Dallas. Edythe was a member of the Shavertown United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star in Dallas. She and her husband Dennis would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on December 17th.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Homer, Kenneth, George, Preston, Earl, and Arnold Swan; sisters, Dorothy Lincoln and June Fisk.
Edythe is survived by her husband, Dennis Bonning; daughter, Beverly Bunney and her husband John of Shavertown; son, Dennis Bonning and his wife Elling of Shavertown; sister-in-law, Margo Swan of Dallas; grandchildren, Andrea Bunney Watson and her husband William of Atlanta, GA and Steven Stempien and his wife Stella of Lake Silkworth; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Sydney, and Andrew Watson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Judy Walker of the Shavertown United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends may call 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Kocher Cemetery, Lake Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be made to the Shavertown United Methodist Church, 163 N. Pioneer Ave. Shavertown, PA 18708 or the Jackson Township Fire Company, 1160 Chase Rd. Shavertown, PA 18708.
