Obituary of Kenneth Paul Heller

Kenneth "Skip" P. Heller, age 86 of Sweet Valley, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Bonham's Nursing Center, Stillwater. Mr. Heller was born on August 15, 1927 and was the son of the late Leslie and Florence LaBar Heller. Skip was raised in Laurel Run and proudly served in the US Marines. He and his wife, Madlyn (Madge) Heller, managed the Mohawk Riding Stables at Harveys Lake for over 35 years prior to moving to Sweet Valley where they owned the Bar H Stables. Skip was well known for his knowledge and love for horses, cattle, and farming. He and his family have a long history of showing horses starting at the old Lehman horse show grounds, currently Lehman Nursery, as well as participating at the Dallas Rotary Fall Fair horse show in 1962 and numerous other horse shows. His horsemanship and farrier skills were one of the best. Skip had a great personality, liked to joke around, and was well liked by many that had the opportunity to meet him. He was formerly employed by Hadsall Excavation in Trucksville, John Adams Paving in Loyalville, and Yatsko Paving in Lehman. Skip was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Madge. He is survived by children, Nancy Honeywell and her husband Charles of Sylvan Lake, Kenneth "Joe" Heller and his wife Sue of Sweet Valley, James Heller and his wife Judy of Sweet Valley, Susan Lee and her husband Jack of Noxen, Lynn Jackson and her husband Robert of Sweet Valley, Gail Verbyla and her husband Mark of Mooretown, and David Heller and his wife Karen of Broadway; grandchildren, Sandy Lynn, Charlie Honeywell, Amy Edwards, Liz Heritage, Sarah Lanning, Jamie Heller, John Heller, Amber Morgan, Jennifer Lauri, Richard Lauri, Katie Heller, DJ Heller, and Megan Lee; great-grandchildren, Brittany Lynn, Vince and Nick Edwards, Shalynn Honeywell, and Aspen Jackson. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 at 5:00 pm from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. Richard Fox of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lake Silkworth, officiating. Friends may call 5:30 - 8:00 PM on Friday. The family would like to thank the Bonham Nursing Center and their staff for the care they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be sent to the Sweet Valley Ambulance Association and/or the Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 207, Sweet Valley, PA 18656.
