Obituary of Carlton B. Hadsel

Carlton Benton Hadsel, age 80 of Lehman Township, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, PA. Mr. Hadsel was born May 26, 1934 in Idetown, and was the son of the late Alfred E. and Beatrice Kocher Hadsel. He graduated from the former Lehman-Jackson High School in 1952 and resided in Idetown most of his life. Stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky and Carlisle, he served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and later joined the Army reserves. Carlton attended Wilkes-Barre Business College and was employed by the American Asphalt Co. and the U.S. Department of labor in Washington DC as an accountant. As a member of both the Maryland and Luzerne North Camps of Gideons, International he found great joy and satisfaction giving out New Testaments at various fairs. He also found enjoyment in playing his trumpet. Mr. Hadsel attended the Idetown United Methodist Church and is now a member of Cross Creek Community Church, Trucksville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lynn. Survivng are his wife, the former Gladys Romer Yohey Hadsel; sister, Carol Hadsel and a nephew, Jeff Hadsel and his wife, Tammy. Carlton's funeral will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral home, corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. David Martin, pastor of the Cross Creek Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Idetown Cemetery, Lehman Township. Friends may call Monday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Wilkes-Barre Camp of Gideons International, 29 E. North St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701
