Obituary of Roy William Baker

Roy William Baker, age 81 of Dallas, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Plains Township. Mr. Baker was born in Wilkes-Barre on March 29, 1932 and was the son of the late Roy and Ada Severence Baker. Roy resided in Dallas for the most of his life. He was employed by Dairylea where he delivered milk, Gus Genneti's Hotel in Wilkes-Barre where he was a bar manager, and retired from Pharamerica Pharmaceuticals in Wilkes-Barre. Roy was well known for his strong work ethic and will be sadly missed by his daughters. He is survived by daughters: Lisa Scott and her husband Alvin of Kunkle, Sharon Askew and her husband Daniel of Pikes Creek, and Joann Baker and her longtime companion Francis Gurnari of Dallas; grandchildren: Christina Scott and Jacque Grobelny; great-grandchildren: Bryn and Rhys Grobelny. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
