Obituary of Dorrance Sterling Hubbell

Dorrance Sterling Hubbell, Sr. age 89 of Noxen, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.
Mr. Hubbell was born June 24, 1924 in Noxen and was the son of the late Nelson and Blanche Jones Hubbell.
While serving in the American Campaign of the U.S. Navy During WWII he received the Victory Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific 1star.
Dorrance was employed by McDonald-Douglas Aircraft, Huntington Beach, CA for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of various American Legions and Veterans of Foreign Wars in California and Pennsylvania, M.O.O.S.E. Lodge in Tunkhannock, the A.M.V.E.T.S. of Hanover Township, a life member of the Douglas Elsie Gundal Rod and Gun Club of Wilford Heights, CA, the Carson Clowners of Carson, CA and was a past member of the ELKS.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Blanche Jones; sons, Andrew and Brian Hubbell; brothers: Wayne, Virgil, Cecil, Clarence and Warren
He is survived by his son: Dorrance Sterling Hubbell, Jr. of Hemet, CA; companion, Doris Mingus, Noxen; sister: Verna Day of Beaumont; 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11 AM from the Noxen Bible Baptist Church, 3622 Sate Route 29 South, Noxen, with Pastor Joel Mitchell officiating.
Interment will be in the Dymond Section of Orcutt's Grove Cemetery, Monroe Township.
Friends may call on Friday from 6 - 8 PM at the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek.
