Obituary of Joseph Wallace

Joseph Wallace, Jr., age 76 of Shavertown, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at home. Mr. Wallace was born in Hanover Township on January 13, 1937 and was the son of the late Joseph and Florence Shilanski Wallace. Joseph graduated from the former Lake Noxen High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a mechanic for the former American Auto Store in Kingston and was last employed as a machinist for Topps Chewing Gum in Duryea. Joseph was a member of the Dallas American Legion and the Harveys Lake Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, the former Sharon Spencer; daughters, Laurie Wallace of Conyngham and Michelle Wallace of Winston-Salem, NC; son, Joseph G. Wallace and his wife Mandy of Dallas; brothers, Leonard W. Wallace of Dallas and James E. Taylor of Ephrata; grandchildren, Austin Bower of Winston-Salem, NC and Courtney Wallace of Dallas. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 6 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with his brother, James E. Taylor, officiating. Friends may call from 4 PM - 6 PM prior to the service. Interment will be in Idetown Cemetery, Lehman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Lyme Disease Association, Inc., PO Box 1438, Jackson, NJ 08527.
