Obituary of Emily Ruth Rogers

Emily Ruth Rogers, age 90 of Sweet Valley, peacefully passed away into the arms of her Lord, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at home. Mrs. Rogers was born in Noxen on November 9, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Rachel Dymond Blossom. Emily graduated from Beaumont High School and was employed by the Census Bureau in Washington D.C. during WWII, retiring from Owens-Illinois. She was preceded in death by brother, Stephen Blossom and sisters, Genevieve Munkatchy, Mahalia Newell, and Effie Crispell. Emily is survived by daughters, Margo Kirkwood and her husband Alex of Brownsville, TX, Genevieve Ross and her partner Chris of Bend, OR, Yvonne Romano with whom she resided, and Sonya Rogers of Hanover Twp; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses of Traditional Hospice, Patty and Kristie, and the many aides who cared for her during her illness.
