Obituary of John Herbert Hettes

John Herbert Hettes, Sr., age 82 of Noxen, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Hettes was born in Noxen on January 18, 1931 and was the son of the late John and Florence Belles Blizzard Hetteshiemer.
John attended Noxen School and served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. During the Korean Conflict. He worked as a heavy machine operator at Westside Landfill and Noxen Township. He was a member of the Daddow Issac American Legion Post 672. John enjoyed being with his grandchildren and working in his workshop. He also loved to feed his squirrels and loved all his canine buddies.
Mr. Hettes was preceded in death by sisters, Inez, Alma, and Bertha, brother, Arthur, and step-father, Sam Blizzard.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Tillie Troy; children, Debbie Creasing of Noxen, John and his wife Debbie of Carverton, Jim and his wife Cathy of Swoyersville, Philip and his wife Wendy of Noxen and Brenda Chipego and her husband Tom of Harveys Lake; brother, James Hetteshiemer of Noxen; sisters, Ethel Jones of Noxen, Olma Weidner of Wilkes-Barre, and Viola Robbins of Noxen; grandchildren, Kevin, Michelene, Lisa, Chuck, Debbylynn, Rick, Melissa, Bill, Amy, Kimberly, Jeremy, Lennette, Steven, Tiffiny, Matt, Johnny, Jess, Jimmy, Crystal, Tom, Jackie, Christopher, Ryan, Lottie, Tommy and Philip; 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter; extended family, Tom and Pat Norris and sons.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 am from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corners of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Pastor Marty Everhart of the St. Luke's Reformation Lutheran Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Dymond Section Of Orcutt's Grove Cemetery, Monroe Township.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
