Bertman C. Balliet, 85, a resident of Shavertown, went to be with the Lord on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Bert was a guest at the Maple Ridge Nursing Facility in Kingston. He passed peacefully with his loving wife, Connie L. Balliet, by his side, having just celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary this past August.
Born on August 2, 1939 in Kingston to the late Earl W. and Hellen G. Balliet, he was raised in Chase. Bert was a proud graduate of the Lake-Lehman High School Class of 1957 where he played baseball and basketball for the school.
Bert worked as a kid on the family farm in Chase. After graduation, he brought smiles to his customers as a milk route salesman for Harter's Dairy. Bert worked for many years at InterMetro till his retirement in 2001.
He graduated with honors from the North East Police Academy in Wyoming. Bert served 13 years as a police officer for Jackson Township. After retirement from the force, he worked part time for the Township Road Department.
In addition to his beloved parents and grandparents, Bert was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-laws, George and Evelyn Devens; his sister, Earlene Balliet Myers; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Devens Baker.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, the former Connie L. Devens; son, Bert W. Balliet, and his wife Jackie; granddaughters, Jennifer and her husband Justin, and Sara; and his special great-grandson, Ellis. Bert was known by many as "Uncle Bert" and was loved by all who knew him, especially his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bert's hobbies included golf; he was a member of the Back Mountain Golf Lodge for 21 years and a 4 time League Champion. He loved Nascar and racing, and was a proud team member of Car "23" Racing Champions at Evergreen Speedway.
He was an avid sports fan, having attended all Lake Lehman football and wrestling matches. He followed Penn State Football, the NY Yankees, and owned a hat for his favorite teams, the Giants, Chiefs, and Steelers. Bert was also a former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins season ticket member.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Cease, Valley Union Chapel, Larksville, officiating.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Township.

Bert was a man of faith who loved and prayed daily to Jesus for his family. He was a member of the Valley View Union Chapel and enjoyed Pizza Nights with the Men's Fellowship Group. The family wants to send thank to Pastor Ron Cease who stayed with Bert during his illness.
