Ruth Marie Hummel, age 84 of Sweet Valley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at her loving daughter and son-in-law's home in Sweet Valley.

She was born in Nanticoke on July 5, 1940 and was the daughter of the late George and Nellie (Roberts) Gliddon.

Ruth was a caregiver for over 30 years, working at the County Manor at Harveys Lake and Fernwood Manor in Sweet Valley. She was a faithful member of the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church at Harveys Lake for 40 years. Ruth was a humble, kind, and sweet mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved singing hymns, playing cards, joking around, coffee and sweets. Ruth shared whatever she had and was loved by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Harvey; brothers, Gordon, Richard, Bernard, George, and Robert; sisters, Dorothy, Lorraine, Barbara, and Mary Lou.

Ruth is survived by children, Tamara Madonna and her husband James, Tracey Capinas and her husband Tom, and Jody Hummel and his wife Maria, all of Sweet Valley; niece, Terrie of New Jersey; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, 239 Church Rd., Harveys Lake, PA 18618, with Pastor L.D. Reed, officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family at a future date.

Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
