Scott R. Stonier, Sr. age 74 of Sweet Valley, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Meshoppen on March 23, 1950 and was the son of the late Leon and Doris Stonier.
Scott graduated from Tunkhannock High School and then served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict, earning the Bronze Star. He retired from the Benton Foundry after 25 years of service, retiring in 2012. Scott was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Leon and Walter Stonier; sister, Doris "Susie" Keefe; canine companion, Jade.
Scott is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Betty Rosencrans; children, Kelly Stonier, Melissa Johnson and her husband Owen, Scott R. Stonier, II and Tiffany Craze and her husband William; brothers, Charles, George and Kenneth James Stonier; grandchildren, Jerimya, Cherokee, Montanna, Olivia, Walter, Khristiana, Jada, and Kayla; great-grandson, Thane; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of the family that he considered grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
