Obituary of Carla Marie Sorber

Carla Marie Sorber, age 74 of Loyalville, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Nanticoke on January 27, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Marjorie Leiby. Carla graduated from Nanticoke High School, Class of 1967 and then went on to attend College Misercordia, Dallas. She worked at the Barn at Newberry Estates, the American Red Cross, and was a loving homemaker for her husband and family. Carla attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was very involved in her children and grandchildren's activities. Carla was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Leiby. Carla is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ron Sorber; sons, Kirk Vandermark (Amy) of Reno, NV and Jeremy Sorber of Loyalville; daughter, Maggie Mae Sorber of Bethlehem; sister, Jackie Domzalski of Dallas; grandchildren, Chloe, Griffin, Annabelle, and Novalee; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Chip Sorber officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM before the service Private interment will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Loyalville at a later date.
